Yes, that’s right dear friends, the person in the photo is none other than the great Josep Ramiro, National Sales Manager of La Pirata Brewing. A true phenomenon. Just to let you know: his participation in the CRAFTED “Bottle Share Playlist” series is not by chance. He meets all the requirements to establish himself as one of the top selectors of our particular Billboard: a true beer enthusiast, vinyl lover and expert in Jamaican music.
Josep has been a part of the La Pirata crew for almost four years. He tells us: "I started developing a multipurpose role in different areas, and currently, I am responsible for national sales, communication and a brand ambassador."
La Pirata Brewing is one of the most loved and respected brewers in our craft beer community. A recognition not only to the quality of their excellent and award-winning beers, but also to the passion, great work and authenticity of its team. A great example of what I am talking about is Josep, who in addition to contributing to the deserved success of the brewery where he works, plays a very important role in the machinery that adds value in the craft beer industry.
But to get to know his musical side a little better, we have to go a little further back in time to 2004, when Josep "along with some lifelong friends" founded the sound system "Dancing Mood" in Caldes de Montbui. There they organized for several years the mythical "Jamaican Beats". Currently, we can see him DJ:ing at beer festivals.
I have been chasing Josep for some time, by land, sea and air - always with a beer in hand - to post this selection of songs. So savor it well! It is a playlist that evokes the euphoria and the rebellious spirit of early reggae, and other sub-genres such as roots, dub or roots rock reggae. Keep in mind that Josep has visited the Caribbean island of Jamaica on a couple of occasions, and has therefore witnessed in person the entire Rastafarian musical movement in its many styles and variations. And culturally that is worth its weight in gold.
Before pushing play, in addition to thanking Josep for his time and magnificent contribution, I would like to mention a couple of his phrases, since I consider them important to remember and take into account during these times:
"Together with the La Pirata team we are immersed in saving and surviving the hard blow that is shaking the entire craft industry, due to the Covid19 situation. A new reality will be forged, and creativity and an ability to adapt will be essential to push forward. Also the unity of the industry, with the main objective of saving the hospitality industry. AHH! And remember that craft beer is not only hops and hazy ... there is so much more to it! One of the strengths of craft beer is the infinite variety of styles and sub-styles ... ". Cheers Josep!
