Tres son las palabras que me vienen a la mente cuando me paro a reflexionar sobre todo lo vivido durante la segunda edición del MASH BEER FEST: “Veni, vidi, vici” - vine, vi, vencí -.

Pero a diferencia de la locución latina utilizada por el general y cónsul romano Julio César para describir ante el Senado su victoria en la Batalla de Zela, en este caso no me estoy refiriendo a ningún contexto bélico, sino a la tremenda rapidez con la que MASH se ha convertido en el festival soñado por cualquier amante de la craft beer y ha conquistado nuestros corazones.

Imaginaros por un momento el sentimiento de un niño que entra por primera vez a una tienda de golosinas. Bien. Ahora, cambiad a ese niño por un grupo de adultos fanáticos de la cerveza artesana - que se lo pasan como niños - y la tienda de golosinas por un espacio en el que se congregan durante dos intensas jornadas algunas de las mejores cerveceras de la escena craft beer nacional e internacional. Esa es la emoción. Eso es MASH.

De hecho estoy convencido de que más de uno todavía tiene la mejilla roja de irse pellizcando mientras caminaba por las salas de la Nau Bostik y descubría todas las cervezas que tenía a su alcance con un simple intercambio de tokens. Porque la inmensa calidad y el estado de conservación de lo que hemos probado durante el MASH queridos amigos, es un escándalo.

Las expectativas eran muy altas, y el perfil del público asistente elevaba más si cabe la exigencia que conlleva un festival de estas características. Pero os puedo asegurar que la sensación que transmitían todos los profesionales, connoisseurs y/o aficionados cerveceros con los que tuve la suerte de coincidir en el evento y compartir la experiencia, era de puro y rebosante entusiasmo por lo que estaban catando. Algo que era impensable tener en Barcelona hace tan sólo unos pocos años, y que gracias al trabajo y la pasión de mucha gente, se ha hecho realidad.

Dicho esto - si queréis saber más sobre la edición de este año podéis ir AQUÍ - , tan sólo me queda dar la enhorabuena a los organizadores del evento, las cerveceras catalanas Edge Brewing y Garage Beer Co., y la distribuidora estadounidense Shelton Brothers Inc. por el gran éxito del festival, agradecerles todo el cariño y el esfuerzo que les ha permitido, a partir de una idea, dar forma a un festival de ensueño, y por supuesto esperar a que salga ya pronto la fecha de la tercera edición para ir cerrando la agenda!

There are three words that came to my mind when I stopped to reflect on all what I experienced during the second edition of MASH BEER FEST: "Veni, vidi, vici”: I came, I saw, I conquered.

But unlike the Latin phrase by the Roman military general I am not referring to a war, but rather how MASH has conquered the city and our hearts and become the festival that many a craft beer lover has only dreamed of.

Imagine for a moment the feeling of a child who enters a candy store for the first time. Now, take that child and replace it with a group of adults who are craft beer fans and the candy store for a space that during two intense days gathers some of the best breweries in the national and international craft beer scene. That is what the emotion is all about. That is MASH.

In fact I am convinced that more than one person still has red marks from pinching himself while walking through the Nau Bostik halls and discovering all the beers that were within reach with a simple exchange of tokens. Because the immense quality and the state of conservation of what we have tried during the MASH my dear friends, is almost scandalous.

The expectations were very high, and the profile of the attendees raised them even more, considering what a festival with these characteristics entails. But I can assure you that the feeling conveyed by all the professionals, connoisseurs and/or beer fans with whom I was lucky enough to coincide at the event and share the experience, was pure and overflowing enthusiasm for what they were tasting. Something that was unthinkable to see in Barcelona just a few years ago, and that thanks to the work and passion of many has become a reality.

Most of all I want to congratulate the organizers of the event: the Catalan breweries Edge Brewing and Garage Beer Co., and the US distributor Shelton Brothers Inc. for the great success of the festival, and thank them for all the affection and effort that has allowed them to give shape to a dream festival. And now we are impatiently waiting for the announcement of the date for the third edition to mark it down in the agenda!
